What is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis |
Psoriasis is a skin related medical condition where the skin
cells grow too quickly and starts giving faulty signals to the immune systems.
This in results leads to growth of new skin much faster than its normal course
of time.
In this type of medical conditions the body of the diseased person
does not shed the excess skin and hence it starts to pile up leading to
infections and form lesions on the surface of the skins. This disease is not contagious and therefore
does not spread from one person to the other.
It is believed that it can be
genetic and is caused when the immune system is affected and mistreats normal
skin cells for pathogens. There are different types of Psoriasis which includes
Plaque, guttate, pustular, inverse, and erythrodermic. These can develop in any
part of the body specifically the knees, elbows, back and scalp. It can also
affect the nails.
How it is caused?
Psoriasis is a chronic disease which keeps reoccurring if
not controlled on time. When our immune system is unable to find the right
difference between the normal skin cells and the pathogens this skin disorder is caused. A detailed research done
by the scientists have found out that it is causes when white blood cell that
fights unwanted invaders such as bacteria and viruses mistakenly triggers a
reaction in the skin cells. This reaction activates the skin cells to grow at a
much faster rate than the normal rate of the sin cell growth which are actually
21 days.
As the psoriasis causing cells lie in our DNA it is being said by the
doctors that the person who is suffering from this skin disorder has inherited
it from their genes. As this is a reoccurring process it needs to be controlled
on time then it can at least stop the regeneration of new cells to a wider
extent.
